The Best Outdoor Photography Locations in Eugene | Eugene Photographer

There’s nothing like the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest to elevate your photos — whether it’s family portraits, senior sessions, branding, or just capturing life’s special moments. As an Eugene photographer, I love exploring both classic and hidden gems for outdoor photography, and also I am always on the hunt for what is best for each unique sesaon we get in the PNW. I’m always open to discovering new spots my clients suggest. Here are some of my favorites:
Hendrix Park
Hendrix Park has it all: big trees, easy access for little ones, and the perfect PNW vibe. It’s stunning year-round and incredibly convenient, right in the city. This location is perfect for families, seniors, or anyone looking for a natural, tree-filled backdrop that feels like you are deep in the forest. This is probably my my used location for a reason, it is just stunning.
Autzen Stadium Area
Just a short drive away, this spot features a cute bridge, open fields, and lush nature vibes. Great for all ages and pets, it’s one of my favorite locations for sessions that balance nature with a bit of city convenience and a splash of texture from the bridge. I just love this location!
Owen Rose Garden
From late spring through late summer, the Owen Rose Garden is absolutely breathtaking. With rows of blooming roses, pretty pathways, and vibrant greenery, it’s a dream for romantic, colorful portraits. This location is perfect for families, seniors, couples, or branding sessions that want a pop of floral beauty.
The garden also has that wonderful mix of nature and city park vibes — easily accessible and right in Eugene, but still full of lush scenery. I especially love this spot in the early morning light, when the soft glow highlights the flowers and creates a calm, magical atmosphere.
Pisgah
Pisgah is a little more off the beaten path, but it’s worth the short hike. Big oaks, open fields, and golden hour light make it a magical spot for adventurous sessions. It’s perfect for families, seniors, and anyone wanting a nature-filled session with a fun outdoor adventure. It is very whimsical and has that deep nature vibe. There is a lot to explore here: rivers, mountain tops, open fields, barns and so much more!
Doris Ranch
Doris Ranch offers a country vibe with beautiful orchards, scenic walkways, and open fields. It’s perfect for all ages and pets, and is especially great for capturing that rustic, timeless feel in your portraits. This also has some cool barns and fun areas to explore.
Urban & City Locations
Why urban photography is a great option:

5th Street Market Area
Looking for something with an in-city feel? This spot is clean, open, and full of design details, giving your photos a modern, vibrant look. It’s perfect for portraits, seniors, lifestyle sessions, and even small families. The urban backdrop adds uniqueness that you can’t get in nature, with a lot of creative options for poses and compositions.
University of Oregon Campus
The campus is full of beautiful brickwork, historic buildings, and architectural charm. It’s a great choice for UofO grads, seniors, or families looking for a twist on traditional portraits. Pets are welcome if well-behaved! The combination of old-world textures and open spaces creates photos that feel timeless yet distinctive.
Other Urban Gems
I also have several hidden spots in Eugene ideal for model, senior, headshot, or portrait sessions. These areas tend to be busier streets, so they’re best for older kids and adults. The urban environment provides creative backdrops that are full of lines, patterns, and unique designs, making your images stand out.
Tips for Pets
Almost all of these locations are great for pets! I highly suggest bringing them along, as long as they’re well-behaved and won’t add extra stress to the session. Pets bring personality, energy, and fun to your photos. Bring treats!!! It can be a great motivator!
Beyond Eugene
I also love venturing outside Eugene to capture the PNW’s stunning landscapes. From waterfalls and cliffs to mountaintops and scenic overlooks, scouting unique locations is one of my favorite parts of being a photographer. Every adventure is an opportunity to create breathtaking images that tell your story.
