If you’ve booked a boudoir session—or you’re thinking about one—you might be feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. That is completely normal. One of the most common things I hear from clients is, “I don’t know how to pose,” or “I’m not sure what to bring.” The good news? You don’t need to have it all figured out. That’s what I’m here for.
This guide is meant to help you feel prepared, confident, and grounded—not overwhelmed. Think of it as a supportive starting point, not a checklist you have to follow perfectly.
You Don’t Have to Know How to Pose
Let’s start with the biggest relief right away: I will be posing and directing you the entire time. From head to toe, every movement, every angle—I’ve got you. You never need to worry about what to do with your hands, how to stand, or how to move. I’ll guide you through it all in a way that feels natural and comfortable.
All you need to focus on is your outfits, your hair and makeup, and any props you’d like to bring. Your only real job is to show up as yourself.
If having extra support helps you feel more at ease, you are absolutely welcome to bring a trusted friend or family member along. Your boudoir session should feel safe, supportive, and empowering.
The Day Before Your Boudoir Session
A little preparation the night before can make a big difference.
Choose your outfits ahead of time and have them ready to go
Gather any props you’d like to bring so nothing feels rushed
Drink plenty of water to keep your body and skin hydrated
Try to avoid alcohol the day before your session
Get a good night’s rest—being well-rested truly shows
The Morning of Your Session
Moisturize your skin with your favorite lotion or oil
Eat something nourishing
Take a few deep breaths and remind yourself: you are doing something special for you
Hair & Makeup: An Optional, Pampering Upgrade
If you’d like to take things a step further, I work with several incredibly talented hair and makeup artists who specialize in creating polished, camera-ready looks that still feel like you. Booking professional hair and makeup is a great option if you want to feel extra nurtured, relaxed, and fully taken care of on the day of your session.
This is completely optional—whether you arrive fully done up or beautifully natural, both are always welcome.
What to Wear: Be You
There is no single definition of what boudoir “should” look like. Your session is about authenticity and self-expression, not fitting into a box.
Your outfits might include:
Classic or sexy lingerie
Sporty or casual pieces
Witchy, moody, or dark vibes
Classy, elegant, or business-inspired looks
Or a mix of several styles
Bring what feels most like you. The more aligned you feel in what you’re wearing, the more powerful and honest your images will be.

Props: Totally Optional, Always Personal
Props are never required, but they can add beautiful layers to your session if they feel meaningful to you.
Some ideas include:
Books
Crystals or burnables
Silk or Lace Robe
Tools/Equipment
Sports equipment
A favorite drink or special item
If props feel overwhelming, skip them entirely. Simple is always okay.

Shoes or No Shoes—It’s All Welcome
Heels can be fun and flattering, but they are absolutely not required. Barefoot, boots, socks, sneakers—everything is welcome here. Comfort and authenticity always come first.
Finding Inspiration
If you’d like inspiration, feel free to browse my boudoir gallery or explore Pinterest. These can be helpful tools for sparking ideas—but remember, inspiration is not comparison. Your session will be uniquely yours.

Final Thoughts
A boudoir session is not about perfection. It’s about presence, confidence, and honoring yourself exactly as you are in this season of life. I’ll be there to guide you, encourage you, and create space for you to feel comfortable and empowered every step of the way.
If you’re ready to book your own boudoir session in Eugene, Oregon or have questions about the process, I would love to connect.
You deserve to feel seen, celebrated, and confident—just as you are.
Shine on,
Faliesha Dawne
